TrueNorth Health Center, located in Santa Rosa, California, is looking for a qualified NP, PA, MD, ND or DC, with outstanding patient contact skills, for our Medical Residency position in our busy Health Center. For Naturopathic Doctors, we offer CNME certification for 1 year Naturopathic Residencies through the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges. On-site housing is provided for this position.

TrueNorth Health Center is a residential health education program, offering an alternative approach to the restoration and maintenance of optimal health. We have been established in Sonoma County for over 33 years, and operate an inpatient clinic housed in a 40,000+ square-foot, 58-bed facility. We offer an integrative medical approach to evaluate and treat a variety of health conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune disorders, and dietary issues. Our team of experts includes: Medical Doctors, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Naturopaths, Psychologists, and Research Scientists. We specialize in medically supervised fasting and the provision of a health-promoting diet, derived from whole, plant foods, free of added salt, oil and sugar. Participants come to fast and detoxify, lose weight, and make dietary and lifestyle changes. 

Job Position:

This Medical Residency is a hands-on position with extensive patient contact involving daily rounds on the 60+ inpatients undergoing care in our residential health education program. The position requires a health conscious individual that practices and/or enthusiastically supports the use of an exclusively whole, plant-food diet, free of added salt, oil and sugar, and avoids all use of tobacco, alcohol, recreational drugs etc. You would need to enjoy direct patient contact and have the skills to interact with our medical assistants and interns. This is a very detail-oriented position requiring both efficiency and effectiveness.

On-campus housing is provided in a 2 bedroom apartment or shared apartment, depending on the applicant’s needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Examining inpatients during daily rounds: taking vitals, recording symptoms and working closely with the staff and staff doctors. Common conditions include high blood pressure, diabetes, autoimmune diseases, obesity, lymphoma etc.
  • You will also coordinate with our research team that conducts clinical trials, prepares case reports and provides educational programs for our patients.

This is a full-time, resident position for 6 month-1 year duration, requiring schedule flexibility, with some on-call hours required overnight and during the weekend.

Requirements:

  • Graduate MD, DC, ND, NP or PA
  • Preferred knowledge and experience in both conventional medicine and alternative healthcare
  • Able to display outstanding patient contact skills and respond with a high level of care to patients’ support needs
  • Physically able to climb multiple flights of stairs per day
  • Highly skilled using computers and learning new software
  • An articulate and clear communicator
  • Committed to healthful eating and living
  • A non-smoker

 Compensation/Benefits: 

  • A stipend of up to $1,000 (depending on how many patients will be seen by the resident), plus malpractice insurance is provided.
